Introduction

Big Red is a Java implementation of a virtual finite state machine (VFSM). A VFSM is geared toward real-time control systems. Big Red allows a hierarchy of state machines to be defined in XML allowing the developers/engineers to concentrate on designing and testing individual state machines before putting them together in a larger more complex system.

It is hoped that Big Red will be ready for its debut in a few months. For now, there is an early version of the State Machine Schema. There are also javadoc pages.

Why "Big Red"?

Big Red is named after my grandfather, Kenneth D. Kimbrough. He was a truck driver for many years and his CB handle is Big Red (he drove a big red truck). Big Red is not named after chewing gum! Arizona CopperSoft is named after my father. He too is a truck driver and his CB handle is Copperhead (he hauled copper).
